About
supporting cats and the humans who care for them
art, books, and educational events on cat rescue, TNR, and adoption
Overview
The Cat Museum of New York City is a proposed institution dedicated to supporting cats and the humans who care for them, primarily through art exhibits.
Programming will include art, books, gift shop merchandise, and education on how to get involved in cat rescue, TNR (trap, neuter, return), adoption/fostering, and more.
The Space and Programming
The space will host:
An art gallery featuring a collection of local and global feline-friendly artists
Events that are educational (workshops on cat adoption, rescue, fostering, and TNR), cultural (cat-relevant artists and authors), and entertaining (where proceeds will support cat rescue efforts) for adults and families
A gift shop with products offered for sale from businesses that support cat culture or that donate part of their profits to cat rescue efforts
A library
And more
“Cat with Pumpkin” (2022), the museum’s first acquisition, is an original drawing by Brazilian artist Heloísa Nora, aka @poorlycatdraw, that deserves not just the 177k likes it received on her 2018 tweet but also a museum setting for cat lovers to enjoy IRL.
