The Cat Museum of New York City’s
Beauty Bar Dance Party Fundraiser

We called on all cat people who love to party, and they answered!

On November 7, we held a sold-out event to help fund the launch of the Cat Museum of NYC, with dancing, raffles, cat cocktails, and more.

The Cat Museum of New York City is thrilled to announce we held our second public event on November 7, 2024.

We think cat people deserve a space to celebrate their love of felines! So we threw a fall fundraiser dance party for the Cat Museum of New York City (CMNYC) to make that happen for one night—and, with your help, beyond!

The CMNYC party happened in the back room of Beauty Bar, a storied East Village bar that has been serving cocktails for 25 years against a backdrop of vintage seating (50s-60s hairdryers).

Our guests danced the night away with DJ Pusa (CMNYC co-founder Reynard Loki), DJ Snallygaster (Cameron Majidi), and DJ Stankface (Marisa Wong).

They enjoyed purr-lesque featuring burlesque performer Gemma Stone, host of Catbaret, a cat-themed variety show at Caveat.

We held a raffle to win paw-some cat-themed prizes.

And Beauty Bar featured two special cat-themed cocktails ($1 of each sale went to CMNYC) in the back room crafted by Beauty Bar’s bartender and cat artist Stella.

There was a photobooth for purr-fect memories to be captured. We also provided a glam station with makeup in case anyone forgot to draw on their whiskers or cat eyes before they arrived, and many took us up on this. Cat-themed attire was strongly encouraged.

Some decked their claws out with manicures in the front room (with the option to add on a cat-themed nail decal).

It was an extra special evening!

About CMNYC:

We’re planning the launch of the Cat Museum of New York City, a proposed museum of cat art in NYC that will be the cultural leader on all things feline. As we plan pop-up events and eventually a purr-manent location, we need your support!

The museum’s goal is to educate the public about cat care, cats’ historical and cultural significance, and TNR and other cat rescue topics. We also hope to get the next generation interested in becoming veterinarians, veterinary technicians, and rescuers and to encourage general support of affordable veterinary care.

We think having a pet cat should not be a luxury, especially when so many friendly cats need homes and so many friendly people need cats.

Note: CMNYC’s co-founders are currently in the process of registering as a nonprofit, so donations are not currently tax-deductible.

About the Museum

The Cat Museum of New York City is a proposed institution dedicated to supporting the work of cat rescuers, no-kill cat shelters, cat nonprofit organizations, and the local community of cats and the humans who care for them.

Its programming will include art, books, gift shop merchandise, and education on how to get involved in cat rescue, TNR (trap, neuter, return), adoption/fostering, and more.

The Cat Museum of New York City needs your help to launch! The proceeds of all ticket and raffle sales as well as $1 per cat cocktail in the back room will go toward helping CMNYC advance toward pop-up and permanent spaces for its art collection, programming, and more to help support those who rescue and care for cats.
